Anne Brown - Associate

Anne joined Butler McIntyre Butler in 1984. She specialises in the areas of property law, commercial law, wills and estates. Matters that Anne advises on include leases, securities, commercial and residential property, acquisitions and sales, property developments and subdivisions, business acquisitions and sales, business structures, wills and estate planning and the administration of estates.

Anne graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Laws and has continued her study completing a Diploma of Corporate Management (Dip CM).

She is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania and the High Court of Australia and an accredited mediator with the Law Society of Tasmania and with LEADR.

Anne acts for a wide range of individual clients and corporate clients across many industries including banking, finance, health and resources.

Anne was the inaugural chairman of the Retail Tenancies Monitoring Committee and is a member of the Tasmanian ASIC Liaison Committee. She is involved with several not for profit organisations, notably having served as State Commissioner of Girl Guides Tasmania and chair of the Board of St Michael’s Collegiate School and currently is Deputy Chairman of the Trustees of the Diocese of Tasmania and secretary and public officer on the Board of Anglicare Tasmania Inc.

Maree Nettlefold - Associate

Maree started with Butler McIntyre Butler in 2004 and became an Associate in 2006. Maree practices in the areas of family law, criminal injuries compensation and personal injuries.

Maree began her professional career with a Bachelor of Arts (English Literature & Psychology) before returning to the University of Tasmania to study Law, graduating in 1995. Maree’s training in the discipline of psychology provides useful insight when dealing with her clients who consistently face significant emotional challenges.

Maree has a wide range of family law clients that present with relatively straight forward cases or alternatively highly complex issues. Maree also takes Legal Aid referrals.

Maree takes criminal injury referrals from a range of sources including the Victims of Crime Service, community organisations and fellow practitioners.

Maree is an active committee member of the Tasmanian Women Lawyers and is a member of the Family Law section of the Law Council of Australia. Maree enjoys the opportunity to act as a mentor to emerging junior female lawyers.

Robyn Rumbold - Lawyer

In December 2003 Robyn graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Laws and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania and the High Court of Australia in 2004. Since admission Robyn has commenced practice as an employed Barrister and Solicitor in Private Practice and joined Butler McIntyre Butler in 2007.

In Robyn's spare time she enjoys volunteering at the RSPCA.

Felicity Leonard - Lawyer

Felicity graduated from the University of Tasmania with a combined Bachelor of Arts (majoring in History) and Bachelor of Law degree in 2002. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of Tasmania and High Court of Australia in 2003. Felicity began her career in the community legal sector, before entering private practice in 2006. She joined Butler McIntyre and Butler in October 2007.

Felicity works primarily in civil and commercial litigation and regularly appears as an advocate in the Magistrates Court of Tasmania.

In her spare time Felicity is an avid figure skater. She reads whenever she has the opportunity and enjoys spending time with friends and family, listening to music and bear making.

Alison Wells - Lawyer

Alison joined Butler McIntyre & Butler in 2007. Alison practices in the fields of general civil disputes and litigation and employment law and industrial relations.

Alison regularly assists clients with civil disputes and litigation matters in both the Magistrates Court and Supreme Court.

Alison acts for a range of employers and employees and can assist with:

  • Claims of unfair dismissal, adverse action and unlawful termination;
  • Claims of breach of contract including matters concerning intellectual property and restraints of trade;
  • Complaints of discrimination including harassment and bullying;
  • Preparing, negotiating and advising entitlements under contracts and instruments of employment including executive contracts and other common law contracts, enterprise agreements and awards;
  • Redundancies;
  • Human resource policies including performance management and disciplinary processes; and
  • Responding to Fair Work Ombudsman investigations.

Alison studied law at the University of Sydney in New South Wales, graduating with First Class Honours in 2006. Alison began her legal career in the litigation division of a large commercial law firm in Sydney before working in a smaller boutique law firm specialising in employment law.

Alison is a current member of the Law Society’s Employment & Equal Opportunity Committee and a former member of the Young Lawyers Association (2007-2008) and was Tasmanian Women Lawyers’ Treasurer in 2009.
